HAIFILTER is now available in two formats. The leak-free, finger-tight, and efficient performance are qualities of the HAIFILTER that have made it a popular product, replacing the competition's awkward and leaky alternatives in many labs worldwide. (Higgins Analytical HPLC products are currently being used in 22 countries!). The direct-connect feature in the original design makes the HAIFILTER FM ideal for protecting HPLC columns. In addition, many of our customers have requested a symmetrical version for their filtration needs in other configurations. We are now shipping the new HAIFILTER FF that has standard female threads on both ends, giving you unequaled flexibility to address your filtration needs.

Targa C18 "...a significant improvement in column technology."
We introduced Targa C18 5µm at the HPLC `97 show in Birmingham last summer and immediately we began receiving outstanding reviews. Chromatographers with tough-to-chromatograph basic compounds have shown that Targa C18 outperforms Waters Symmetry, YMC Basic, Hypersil BDS, and Inertsil ODS3. A pyridine/phenol test in extremely unforgiving conditions, unbuffered 20% acetonitrile in water, produces symmetrical peaks with no tailing, as shown below.

Data provided by Kamlesh Patel from the University of North Carolina's Department of Chemistry demonstrated that Targa C18 has an extremely well-protected silanol surface. Acetonitrile/water 1%/min gradients with as little as 0.05% acetic acid, gave a very nice peptide map on a short 5cm x 1mm Targa C18 column.

The behavior of basic peptides on Targa C18 is illustrated in the figures below. Good peak shape is achieved, even when using acetic acid buffer, which is not the case with most HPLC columns

Patel also suggests that in many cases buffer in the mobile phase may be eliminated completely, making Targa C18 columns ideal for LC/MS applications.
